Asarum canadense
( Canadian Wild Ginger )
| Neat, attractive, woodland ground cover for shaded areas. Native to the west coast of the United States. Lush dark green, heart-shaped leaves, 2 to 4 inches across held on softly hairly stalks. Hidden bell-shaped flowers are brownish purple and located close to ground below leaves. Not picky about soil, but spreads faster in rich soil with high humus content.
