Malus coronaria
( Wild Sweet Crabapple )
| This is a semi-weeping, spreading deciduous tree, to 30 feet tall and wide. Leaves are ovate, sparse, dark green, up to 3 in. long. Pink buds produce violet-scented, single, large white flowers tinted pink. Fruit is yellow-green, highly acidic, approximately the size of a cherry. This tree does well in most soil, but will be more attractive if fed peat and compost. Not disease resistant. |
| Important Info : Be careful not to prune too much or apply too much fertilizer since these can increase susceptibility to fire blight. |
